Welcome Note from the NAPSC Board
Dear NAPSC Racers, Guests And Sponsors,
Our 20th Anniversary event was an outstanding success! Many of our folks who had not been to the event in a few years returned to help us celebrate 20 years of competition, camaraderie and charity. With over 240 attending, we were able to raise almost $34,000 for the Winter Sport Programs of Special Olympics. We have now raised over $665,000 in the past 19 years. We also raised $13,500 for the Twin Towers Initiative benefitting the new law enforcement officers memorial museum being built in Washington, DC. This gives us donations of more than $38,000 in a few short years. This effort honors the 72 police officers who lost their lives on 9/11/01. The top Special Olympics fund raising team at our event was once again the Coral Gables Police Ski Team, donating $11,000. WOW!
The 21st event will take place March 20-27, 2010 in our home away from home, Snowmass Village, CO. These dates require a Saturday arrival for Sunday morning registration. We are continuing to give our law enforcement skiers a registration discount. Additionally, those foreign officers who suffer from a currency exchange rate of worse than 1-1, will be able to register at an adjusted price and must contact NASPC prior to registering.
In addition to our GS, Slalom, Super G and Snowboard races we are again planning to end the week with the Dual-Duel between the fastest 32 racers going head to head until the fastest racer is determined through the elimination process.
Lodging information has been posted and the Wildwood Lodge remains a very convenient location while great condos are also available. Remember, when booking you must identify yourself as being with NAPSC and use our group code "NAPSC10". Our room block is only held until February 17, 2010 so please be certain to book your lodging early.
We continue our exciting live and silent auction and drawing to raise dollars for our chosen charities, and you will again have the opportunity to present your fund raising efforts at the clsoing banquet on Friday evening. Our Special Olympic athletes will again join us on Friday for a ski day prior to their state games.
Please assist us again with door prizes, auction items, and if possible, sample products for our registration bags. Contact us to learn how to obtain a free registration! You may contact us through our web site, phone, or e-mail via the established link. Also remember to check out the internet links to our tremendous sponsors who have kept our efforts going for 20 years!
As always, our racers are grouped by 5 year age brackets, gender, and ability. A team must be comprised of at least two law enforcement officers from the same department and three are required for the Overall team award. If you do not care to race you can still join us for a great week of skiing and the opportunity to network with officers from around the world. So until registration on Sunday, March 21, 2010, please Stay in Touch, Stay Safe and see you on the slopes in 2010!
Sincerely,
Your NAPSC Board of Directors
